Throughout the semester, our group has worked on the benefits of campaign manufacturing. Lean Manufacturing Where it all started

Taiichi Ohno is considered the founder of the Toyota Production System. immediately we refer to that system as Lean Manufacturing. Back in 1950 a young lacquerese engineer visited a carrefour plant in the United States and then went back to Japan and reported how Fords assembly system worked to Taiichi Ohno. (A sketch History of Lean Manufacturing, 2012) Ford had a system that would urinate automobiles in large numbers. Workers performed the same tasks over and over again. Ohno wanted to perfect this technique and found that it would cost less per burst if they produced smaller batches.



This also reduced the carrying costs of having large amounts of scrutinise of finished parts that would be necessary with a rush production. The smaller batches also seemed to eliminate defects because workers were more conscious of the shade they were producing. For this new system to run smoothly Ohno discovered that he needed a highly skilled and motivated workforce, if workers could not anticipate problems before they occurred and didnt take initiative to fancy up solutions, the work of the whole factory could come to a crippled.
