In about seventy years Casablanca has left a remarkable impression in movies and shows. The director, Michael Curtiz, did a good job mean the situation of the countries during the war into the movie. Rick Blaine, the American business valet who doesnt stick his neck out for anybody, symbolizes Americans neutrality during the war. Victor Lazlo, the Resistance leader who is on the act as from the national socialists, represents occupied France resistance move to fight off Germany for their independence. police captain Renault, the corrupt captain of the police force, represents occupied France weakness and lower status to Germany.
And Major Strassor, the German general who came to Casablanca to stop Lazlo from leaving to America, represents Nazi Germany control other small, weak countries.
Casablanca was nominated for many awards, they won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. They authentically do deserve those awards. And I found that Casablanca has grown in popularity to the point that it now consistently ranks near the top of lists of the superior films of all time.
Michael Curtiz did an amazing job with this piece. I cant say it is his best works, because I dont regard I seen any other movies from him; but one subject is for sure, I now want to see more if their pit to Casablanca.
