I personally face the same way as Lance and how he overcame the adversity of cancer would have been the same way I would have, by being determined to get through and keeping hope that I can make it past the series hardship.
He survives the surgery and endures gruelling chemotherapy and cancer fighting protocols. Only through his will to live and fierce determination to race again does he overcome that adversity. Lance faced another adversity pretty much straight away with his comeback to cycling starting a year after finishing his chemo.
