Subject: Wildfire Prevention and Education

Do to all told the recent wildfires in the Oklahoma area I would like to heighten awareness about ship canal to stay wildfires on the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and private property surrounding the refuge.
The Problem
I believe that there are some vetoive legal communitys the refuge could take to reduce the guess of wildfires, as well as educating the public on ways to prevent wildfires would reduce the number of fires on the refuge.
1.Lack of educational materials on wildfire prevention
2.Not mowing of the sides of the road.
3.Unsupervised contractors are working on the refuge.
4.Lack of communicating between responding departments
The recent Ferguson fire on the refuge, which burned 38,000 acres, has brought to light the need for improvement in preventing and containing wildfires.

The solution
I believe the refuge could work on ways to educate the public on wildfire prevention. The refuge could also do some routine maintience on the land in golf club to reduce the risk as well.
1.



Providing educational material at the visitor center.
2.Have public meetings to education the public on way to reduce risk of wildfire
3.Mowing the sides of the road would reduce the risk of cars or cigarettes starting fires
4.Improve communication with surrounding department to increase response time in order to better contain wildfires
In conclusion I would like to put together a report on ways to prevent wildfires on the refuge.
